Found

Found a broccoli and arugula soup recipe from Gwyneth's blog.

Day 3

Definitely did not eat enough yesterday - went to bed feeling light-headed. Today started out with great intentions, made carrot and ginger soup for breakfast - surprisingly good! Made curried quinoa for lunch and baked sweet potatoes. But when it came time for dinner, I ran out of ideas, tried two blended drinks that failed (spinach and beet), and ended up eating kale chips. They were good but...
It has been hard to balance all of the nutrients, etc. Tomorrow I am vamping up the volume of food.

Carrot and Ginger Soup
saute 1 sliced leek
boil with 3 cups carrots and 1/2 inch ginger
blend away!

Found

Found an interesting blog called We Like It Raw, and an innovative way to make super healthy spaghetti!
She used a spirooli to slice the zucchini into curly noodles.

Another good carb substitute is Cauliflower Rice. Grate a head of cauliflower with a large cheese grater, or pulse lightly in a food processor, and voila! Crunchy rice!

Day 2

Monday, March 5th. Today was a tough one! The first day at work with the cleanse, and we had a lunch and learn from our health care insurance. They brought "healthy food", salads with cheese, salad dressing, potato salad, and kebabs. Luckily I brought my lunch. I was definitely not up to normal speed today - feeling sluggish and mopey. I've read that the first couple of days of a cleanse can be tough, and that the toxins start to loosen up. Keep on!

BTW: The Dr. Oz Green Drink is not good without apples! Add more ginger!
My favorite recipe so far is Raw Green Pea Soup:
1 cup frozen peas
1 cup water
1/2 to 1 avocado
protein powder
small hand-full spinach

Day 1

Today is Sunday, Day 1 of the cleanse. It is going well so far, morning yoga and an afternoon run along with eating clean. The challenge so far is avoiding Pinterest. Just logging on, there are tons of dessert and recipe photos. Also TV is tough - tons of food commercials! I now realize how bombarded we are with food everywhere. Mind over matter!

Green Drink

There are some interesting recipe videos out there on You Tube for healthy smoothies. One of my favorites is a girl who just talks about the smoothie and drinks it in the video, while adding great sound effects. The first smoothie on our menu tomorrow is the Dr. Oz Green Drink. It looks simple, healthy and green. Next stop, the grocery store!

Recipes from the Garden

Last Sunday we went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens with Chris's parents, and found these recipes in their edible garden.
